The Future Medicine Innovation Days took place on November 13 and 14, 2024, as a full-day conference at the Tagesspiegel.

How can research findings reach patients more quickly? This central question was the focus of the Future Medicine Innovation Days. For two days, professionals from various fields came together to discuss the future of healthcare.

The conference offered a broad range of topics, from CAR-T cell therapies to innovative treatments for breast and lung cancer. Experts and start-ups presented their latest developments. In an audience vote, the most convincing pitch was awarded, with Jaime Rosselló from the start-up Silica Copora taking first place for his presentation on tailored AI solutions in drug research.

At the conclusion of the Future Medicine Innovation Days, one thing was clear: collaborations between politics, science, and industry are essential to bring innovative therapies quickly to where they are needed most – to the patients.

In the first year of the Future Medicine Innovation Days, young scientists had the opportunity to present their ideas or startups and demonstrate how they contribute to the future of medicine. They were invited to discuss the challenges and tough decisions they faced on the path to realizing their ideas. They also shared difficult experiences and described the areas in which they sought support and advice. These pitches not only provided fascinating insights into the future of medicine but also highlighted potential adjustments to better support innovative ideas.

The session's winner was Jaime Roselló, CEO of Silica Corpora. The startup develops and optimizes therapeutic antibodies with a proprietary AI-based platform. This modular system utilizes machine learning and data analytics to specifically work with amino acid sequences.
